Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is caused by excessive wear to the plantar fascia, the support for the arches of the foot. However, certain biometrics can lead to abnormal pronation. This painful inflammatory condition of the foot is plantar fasciitis. Pain is common on the bottom of the heel and usually painful right away in the morning. This condition is relatively common in people whose occupation requires them to stand for a prolonged time with weight bearing requirements. Jobs that require employess to walk on hard surfaces all day often report high incidences of plantar fasciitis from their workers. Women and people that are overweight have a much higher rate of plantar fasciitis conditions. Additionally, many runners with high arches or who don’t properly stretch their calves suffer from plantar fasciitis.
Plantar fasciitis often starts with the feeling like a bone bruise on the bottom of the heel. The pain will set in after exercise- rarely will pain be felt during the run. If plantar fasciitis is left untreated the ailment will only worsen. Especially for runners, if treatment and rehab is not properly executed it can lead to many other injuries. Everything iin the body is connected so a problem in the feet will lead to problems in the legs and back.
